what they need to do it monitor model's weight and routines as closely as possible to avoid eating disorders and girls who basically starve themselves for an industry that doesn't really appreciate the 'human' aspect but only looking at the bottom line. Modeling is a very competitive industry and takes a strong man/woman to keep things in perspective -unfortunately, modeling has become a field for minors who have no clue what they're getting into w/promises of fame and fortune and not receiving anything until they've basically ruined their health for what price. so in answer to your question No they shouldn't 'ban' it but they should take more measures to protect the 'people' who model - they're not 'objects' and should be treated as such.

I do believe that they should ban underweight models, they give out an image that says its okay to be unhealthy and to eat next to nothing, the media has these women so beaten down that they beleive that they need to look this skinny to get were they are wanting to go. They should have all types of shapes and sizes in the modeling industry and the media, it shouldnt all be about sex appeal. These women are starving themselves for our viewing pleasure, when men can usually get away with it, its really not classic beauty at all..

Only, if they are unhealthy. But because models have such small frames, it means they may have a BMI of less than 18 and still be healthy. They need to check the models body fat and if it is too low, they should not be allowed to model. This way, they can't argue that these models are healthy because of their small frame. If they have too little body fat, it's unhealthy no matter what your frame size and this sends out an unnacceptable message to young girls who aspire to be like them.

I also don't think they should have models under age 16.

I think they should because models are pretty and so everyone wants to look like a model and if these modles are thin, and underweight everyone will follow. i think they shouldnt be allowed and should only have naturally thin people if thin at all.

They shouldn't ban them, but they should have models in all different shapes and sizes, to reflect all the real women out there.
