I just saw your other post about racism. You said you wasn't racist. The n-word is word you should never use or have your friends use black or white. I think we should banned this word. The n-word has too much pain and history. I don't understand why white folks want to use this word. It is a ugly word no matter who uses it. You need to read, get educated on the n-word and race relations especially between black and white. No one should use this word and I think this topic has been brought numerous times before.

imagine at school you and your cliche of friends get picked on and called some kind of derogatory word.

it goes on for years and few bad every-time someone calls you whatever the word is.

then after some point in time you and your friends start to joke around and call each other the word. You still are upset when others use the term but with your friends it's alright because this term was also used to degrade them as well, so you can tell that is not what they are trying to do when they used the term.

now after some time of you and your friends using the word among yourselves some body not in you cliche calls you the word. They knew that the word was used to make fun of you but think that it's OK to use because they over heard you guys you it.

but because they didn't have a history of being on the sharp in of the word, it hurts again when the outsider uses it. It brings up all the pain that the word originally had when people called you it to pick on you. Plus you also wonder why this guy used the word, was because he thought it was ok to use now or was he trying to insult you.

It's the context in which the term is used. Usually when said by a White person, the N-word is meant to be offensive. However, when said by Black people, it's used more as a pronoun or even a sign of affection. Similar situations exist in different cultures, such as with the Italians and "Guinea" or Hispanics and "Cabron".

It is a racial term that is not a nice one. It was used by whites to put african americans down. If they wish to call each other that it is a totally different thing. I had an african american friend who used to call me and my other friend that all the time (we are both white) but we would never call her that because it hurt her feelings and it is not o.k. just something you get used to after a while I guess

I'm black and I hate that word. I don't really have any black friends, but if I did, I still wouldn't think it was ok to use the n word. It sucks that there are blacks who do use that word because it is like they're making it okay for other people to use it too. I really just think that no one should use it, but the blacks who use it really are stupid for taking offense when someone calls them that if they're going to go around calling their friends that.

I don't think anyone should say it, but still I'd take more offense if a white person called me it than a black simply because they're white.

Its wrong, but your observation is right...they do call each other the n word...but they do not want us to. Either way, its really offensive to me.

I'm a paramedic. If another paramedic calls me an "ambulance driver" or "CPR technician" it's funny. If anyone other than a paramedic calls me these I get offended.

I don't think ANYBODY (black, white, Asian, whatever color one's skin is) should call each other that. Don't they realize the history behind that word?

thats because they are the same race, they are a minority as well as us Spanish speaking people are. So when a whitey call us by a word we call each other then yes we will get mad, but if you are friend then we wont get mad, its like coming up to you and sayin, what up, cracker?
