well, certainly speed, for one.
Brutal vocals (aka cookie monster vocals),
dark, provocative lyrics, sometimes satanic or hatred-oriented,
blast-beat drumming (lots of double-bass)
Intentionally bad production and sound quality
Pseudo-satanic imagery, hair dyed black, wearing black leather with ridiculously huge spikes...
And for some reason, they always take pics of themselves in the forest or on the snow.

i didn't know creating black metal had ingredients.....**** dude just be yourself....**** what other people say!!!!!....if ****** kreator, obituary, emperor, cannibal corpse, venom, and etc... followed ingredients i think they would be just like the other music genre they would suck ***!!!!!! keep them horns up man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
