If l found that much withoth any proof who it belongs to l think that l would take it. l also think that that person who lost it has much more and won't miss it.
But if there is lD inside l would bring it to the police.
lt would be to the owner to reward me.
lf not l would consider it as a good deed done.

If I was you I would hand it in to the police. If it isn't claimed by it's owner after a certain period of time you get to keep it anyway.
Besides being honest you may receive a reward by the moneys owner.
Having said that it is up to the owner to prove they have a right to and owned that money if they can't it's yours.
I think that you may find it hard to sleep at night and worry about a knock on the door from the old bill if you aren't honest.
But at the end of the day it is up to you what you do, only you can determine if you can live with the consequences of your actions.
Oh and one last thing if you put the money into your bank account you will be required to prove where you got it from and may be asked to pay undeclared tax.
All the best,
Andrew D

I have to be honest and say I would take it to the nearest police station to hand it in. However, I would be praying that no one came to claim it so that I could have the money. If it was claimed I would expect a nice thank you of some money. None of this telling the owner, no you don't have to give me anything, yes you do if you carry ten grand in a carrier bag.

Well that sort of money wouldnt come from a poor person or a working class family person, hence it would come from either some rich toffy nosed git or big buisness geezer, well in that case I would have a whale of a time spending it with my family, however if I knew it belonged to a pensioner or a poor person for some unknown reason having that sort of money, then I would gladly give it back 100% but its more likely to belong to some rich git.

There is no question. This money is not yours. You contact local law enforcement personnel and turn in over to them. There may be a reward you would be entitled to or the owner may reward you for your honesty. You would have to live with the fact that you stole, yes stole, money belonging to someone else.

Many years ago whilst I was working for the police in the U.K. a guy brought in over £40,000 all in used notes of small denominations. He said he found it under a bush when he was going for a pee. No-one claimed it and they had to give it back to him, although the police suspected that it was his money, which he had acquired by illegal means. (and they say crime doesn't pay.)

I'd turn it in. For one thing, it could be mob or drug money, and I wouldn't want to risk pissing those people off. For another, it could belong to someone who needs it a lot more than I do. I also don't think I could spend it with a clear conscience. I can't imagine buying my kids something with money that doesn't belong to me. I couldn't look them in the eye when I gave it to them.

hmm tempting to keep, not so tempting at the thought of having some demented drug pushers after ya :-s, a million yeh but not for the sake of 20k.
You could hand it in and hope for the best or not hand it in and run for the hills!!!.

You would be wise to turn it in. If it contains marked notes or sequential serial numbers it will be eventually tracked to you and you will get whatever punishment that goes along with finding the money and not turning it in.
