Do you think the modeling agencies are the cause of the death of models?

I'm saying this because I saw a show on VH1 called the agency and one of the workers told a model who came in for interview she was fat and she looked so skinny that creeped me out...

Yes, I remember when I was modeling, and they told me I was overweight, I told my agent to go shove a pipe up his kiester!

They're extremely influencial in the lives of these girls. As things stand, teens and young women (some men, also) are so affected by the standards of 'beauty' they see in the media that they starve themselves and, usually at a later stage, subject themselves to surgeries for the sake of 'looking good'. Put an insecure young woman in the hands of an industry which thrives on this, encourages life-threatening behaviour and of course controls the livelihood of the models, and you're asking for disaster. I forget which country it was, but there was one that outlawed agencies using models below a healthy body mass index. This should be done worldwide, to show that we as decent human beings won't stand for these people *requiring* anorexia of their employees. It's unhealthy, and in more superficial terms, the clothes the girls model flop on them like sacks because they have no curves. It's unrealistic and unattractive, and I for one refuse to put money to magazines or products which advertise with anorexic girls. I hope others will follow my lead.

people need to be held accountable for thier own actions. No, I don't think that modeling agencies are the cause of death for many models, the lack of food and regurgitation of food is the direct cause of death, whereas the indirect cause would be malnutrition and dehydration.

I defiantly think some of the models want to go big time that they do anything to please there agencies
