In the last month, I've had 2-4 beers on 4 different occasions. I also used to smoke 2-3 cigarettes a day. I'm 6 weeks now, and i quit everything as soon as i found out last weekend. I'll do anything to keep this baby healthy. It's not too late is it?

I found out I was pregnant in college and as everyone knows you drink and party in college. I came clean and told the doctor everything I had done even down to taking more tylenol than the bottle said b/c I had a hang over.

The doctor assured me that everything should be fine b/c I stopped everything "bad" as soon as I found out.

My best advice is tell your doctor. Dont be embarrassed b/c they get asked these types of questions all day long. He will put your mind at rest. Congrats on your new baby

P.s. I now have a beautiful 18 month old little girl, who is smart happy and healthy.

It's definitely not too late! Just don't smoke or drink now that you're pregnant, and everything should be fine. I was smoking a pack a day when I discovered that I was pregnant, and I'm sure I had a few drinks as well since it was the 4th of July! My son turned out perfectly healthy, and the doctor told me constantly to stop worrying. Explain your fears to your doctor, for more reassurance. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

When I found out I was pregnant with my son I would smoke a pack every two days and it was the weekend after this big celebratory drinking binge with my husband and a friend. It was alot of alcohol too, no beer. We litterally drank until me passed out. When I found out I was pregnant I quit everything immediately and felt horrible for my previous actions. Thank god my son was alright. I think your baby will be alright too just as long as you stay away from everything now that you know. Congrats on being a walking crockpot. You'll love it.

No.

Very recent studies show that parents who drink early on during pregnancy does have an effect on the child's IQ when born. They were shown to have lower IQ scores then the parents who didn't however the difference was only a few points on average and the babies were still within what was considered normal.

I have known a few people who had a few drinks before knowing they were pregnant, and one that also smoked a few cigarettes before knowing she was pregnant and all thier children turned out prettty normal!

I would just take care of yourself now (try and avoid the alcohol, cig's, caffine, stress and make sure you take your prenatals) And your baby will be fine :)

Congratulations on the pregnancy! I actually did the same thing except I used to smoke a pack a day. I also quit as soon as I found out I was expecting. My son turned out just fine. He was a healthy 8lbs, 5 oz. So as for my experience I would say you and the baby will be just fine. Good Luck!

Talk to your doctor about it and be 100% honest about how much you drank and smoked. That's the only way he/she can assess your actual risk factors. I don't *think* it's too late, but I'm not a doctor. At least you quit everything when you found out. You're doing the right thing now. Oh, prenatal vitamins are a really good idea, too. You can get them at any pharmacy for about $5 a bottle.

You should be OK! My wife had been out partying and really got plastered about 3 then again at 5 and 7 weeks into her pregnancy. She found out that she was pregnant at about 8 weeks. Our daughter is just fine. Of course once she found out she panicked and got all upset. And she made sure that she did not drink another drop until after she quit nursing.

jsut to put your mind at ease there is always a pssibility it could affect since they don't really know, BUT I was drinking and didn't know I even drank a whole friggin bottle of wine at what I thought was me being a week late nope I was pregnant! Two weeks before that I was drinking beers at a concert. So as long as you stop now and take your prenatal vitamins with folic acid you should be fine!!!!

no its not to late, you and the baby will be fine. Doctors say you can have one glass of wine a day while pregnant, a few beers before finding out isnt gonna hurt either of you. Relax, you are gonna be a mommy. Congrats and Good Luck!!
