I want to plant some flowering trees and shrubs with a good fragrance this spring. I live in Michigan what would be some good ideas ? I like the smaller trees and mid size shrubs.

lilacs...i have a few... they have a strong sweet fragrance...from ohio and have been to mich. lot's of times and seen many lilacs there ....

Roses ~ They do have roses that are shrubs. What it nice about roses is that they are almost always in bloom. They come in many colors. They do need at least 6 hours of sun light!

1st thing you need to do is check the zone you live in some plants a place might sell you may not live there

Michigan....hmmmmm...you lucky dog.....try Lupinus. I live in Kansas City and have tried growing them for years. They are beautiful and every nursery/flower shop says "you wanna grow Lupinus.....move to Michigan"......good luck.
