I have notices that the rich seem to be getting richer. But was suprised to read that the top 1% have enjoyed a 600% increase raise in less than 10 years.

When juxtaposed with the Minimum wage arguement it looks like a B movie.

Because the wealthy and the corporations have waged a one sided war on the workers and the unions. That 600% income increase for the top 1% came directly from reduced wages and benefits for working class people!

How does one have anything to do with the other. Do you think that by raising the minimum wage 600% would gain the same sort of increases in a companies' productivity that hiring and compensating the best CEO's does? The reason the top wage earners salaries are increasing at that rate is they are increasing their companies earning while keeping costs in check. Do you think that by mandating increases in wages that those same companies will enjoy the same rises in productivity? The answer is no.

If you want to help the lower wage earners lets start educating them to be self reliant. Educate them to prepare for higher skilled jobs and to not rely on whatever low wage job they qualify for. Teach them the entreprenurial spirit. Teach them that they have no one to blame but themselves if they are mired in a crummy, low paying job. Remember, pay is directly based on the numbers of available workers for that position. Fast food jobs pay poorly because in addition to all the high school kids competing for them there are as many losers out of high school that can't get any other job.

Also look at the increase on a total dollars scale. The top 1% of wage earners earn about 5-7% of total dollars paid in wages. The bottom 30% of wage earners make about 50% of total dollars earned(this is a close estimate, I dont remember the exact #). If you redistributed that 600% increase that the top 1% made it would only be about a very smalll increase spread over the bottom 30% of wage earners, all with no expected rise in productivity.

1. low taxes for billionaires (only Mexico has lower taxes)
2. corporate welfare
3. GOP-provided tax loopholes

Eventually the GOP will remove all taxes from the rich....most taxes will be paid by middle and lower classes....then the rich essentially merges with the federal government controlling elections.....the govt. and rich become ONE...and what do you have? A FASCIST government AKA the GOP utopia.

Globalization has reduced their largest expense, labor. They now have a means to pay less than pennies on the dollar for what they used to pay a living wage for.

It is always easier for the haves to get more at a faster and more consistent rate than the have nots. This goes back to the whole "you need money to make money" cliche.

Everyone is getting richer.
That's just the way a free society is supposed to work.
