Either you are running in the SAFE MODE or your video driver is corrupted.
Restart the computer in the NORMAL MODE
or...
Reinstall the video driver, or better yet, download an updated driver from the video card manufacturer's website. If it is onboard video, go to the computer manufacturer's site instead and download a new driver.
Right-click, My Computer and select Properties. Click the Hardware tab then click the Device Manager. Check your display driver properties. Look for an exclaimation point (!) ... that will indicate which item is in trouble.

your display driver seems to be missing, the symptoms you describe are common to a p.c were the display(graphic)driver is either missong or corrupt
its quite easy to rectify this, first go to your graphic cards website, this can be either nvidia(http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp)or a.t.i(http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html),then download the appropriate driver for your p.c
then before you install the display driver you downloaded, you need to first a)remove any previous display driver you have(you will find these in control panel>add/remove programs) and uninstall them, you will need to restart the p.c after this
then also go to http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Driver-Cleaner.shtml,and download driver cleaner, this will remove any bits of old display drivers that you have previously had on your computer, this isnt nessecary but stops any problems when installing the new display driver
then once you have done this, install your display driver,if you get a window regarding windows hardware certificatation, just click"continue anyway"
again a restart will be required after the installation and then once the p.c has started again, your desktop will be able to be changed to all resolutions, refresh rates, and most important colours including 24 and 32 bit
a good resolution to work with(with a 17" monitor) is 1024x768,however if you only have a 15" monitor a resolution of 800x600 is the best
i hope this has helped you
good luck

Right click the desktop and choose properties, go across to the settings tab and look where it says 'Display:'
It should say something like 'Plug and Play Monitor on nVidia Geforce 6800' (but the last bit will be different depending on your graphics card)
If it says 'Default Monitor on......' then you need to change your monitor driver. (Hit Advanced->Monitor->Properties->Driver->Update Driver) follow the instructions and choose 'Plug and Play Monitor' when you get a choice.
If it says: 'Plug and Play Monitor on (unknown)' then you will need to install graphics card drivers, but to give you further instuctions we weill need to know the make and modle of the graphics card. The most common brands are nVidia, ATI and Intel.

I cant see something obvious - is it the bushy bits? if so it feels like your decision has been diminished (or it may desire to be your pictures are low high quality - I cant inform!). to alter it you suitable click on your exhibit, flow to properties, click the settings tab. Your settings are maximum probable - or ought to be - 32-bit colour, 1280 by using 800 pixels. Does that help?

If your using a desktop PC with an old OS this is what i would do. right click on your desktop...point on active desktop...right click on customize my desktop...click on settings...choose 800 by 600 pixels. Click on the colours button and you would see 16 colours.....256 colours....high colour [16bit].....true colour 24bit. Choose 24 bit......click apply then OK....See if that works.
