Hi I got a chapters gift certificate and want to pick a couple good books to get lost in. I am just finished reading The Dark Tower and feel like I need something a little less depressing. Something I can get sucked into. Something rich and discriptive, preferably historical or maybe a really good horror.

Thanks

Here are some that I've read recently:
The Diva's Guide to Selling Your Soul by Kathleen O'Rielly - Something light and hilarious after what you've recently read
Kindred by Octavia Butler - Not quite a science fiction novel, as this author is known for but it is scary in it's depictions of the atrocities endured by slaves in 1800s America. I also like the complexity of the black/white relationships.
