I would pick Albert Pujois over Arod as the best player today, He is a 5 tool guy with a lot of intelliegence and keeps his wits about him. 250 homeruns before he turned 27 and a .332 career batting average is impressive
Overall I would pick Babe Ruth as the best player ever. .342 life time BA, 714 home runs and a 94-46 record as a pitcher is just the tip of the iceberg for him. His persona virtually saved baseball after the blacksox scandal, and that never shows up on a stat sheet. The most impressive stat of an impressive career was he hit 60 homeruns in 1927. No other TEAM in the American League even hit 60 in 1927.

In baseball history, Mickey Mantle or Lou Gehrig were the greatest men alive in the name of baseball.

In current baseball, I would say that Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, and Albert Pujols are the best. Albert Pujols is the best power-hitter in the current MLB, and Big Papi is a pretty good power-hitter also, but is mainly known for his nickname "Mr. Clutch." Jeter is also a widely-known awesome clutch hitter, even though he can't hit power.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Cy Young, the guy won 511 games and lost over 300,now that's pitching a lot of games. That is one record that will never, ever, ever be broken.
In today's game I am very lucky because I get to watch Albert Pujols play for my home town Cardinals.Cy Young the best player ever to put on a uniform, now that's my opinion of coarse

Currently I think it has to be David Oritz. He is a great player. He has amazing numbers as a designated hitter. He has hit many walk off homeruns to win the games for the Red Sox. He is versitile also meaning that he can also play first base.

Big Papi is the best and this year he will be even better!

Pete Rose. Had the smallest amount of talent, and the biggest heart. Played to his full potential at all times, just like he lived his life. Once stated, that he would walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball.
