My hormones have been checked and now use a Bio-Identical Hormone cream and thyroid medicaiton..?

Do either of these affect the 'seratonin' in my body? Is that what I need to get me out of this slight case of 'blues'? How long does it take to work if thats what I'm taking care of. Could someone explain 'seratonin' like I'm a child so that I can understand it ?

The depression you are feeling is most likely linked to your thyroid. Most who have depression as a symptom when they are hypothyroid need a thyroid medication that contains both T4 & T3. It's the T3 that helps with depression. Most who are hypothyroid are only taking T4, so many of their symptoms never improve.

You talk about a hormone cream, do you mean progesterone? Progeterone helps to regulate thyroid hormone. I use an over the counter progesterone cream that is USP.

If your thyroid AND other hormones are off, there might be a pituitary problem (master gland). Depression can be caused by too little growth hormone. Ask your Dr. to do the IGF 1 test.
