My friend says that you can't get possesed. But in the Exocution of emily rose she got possesed in the movie. And it is based on a true story. So help me out here.

A lot of beliefs we see in the world are fueld by both fear and ignorance. However, because the mind is very powerful, we create our reality by our very thought. So for those who believe in demons and a "devil", the possibility of being possessed and made to do things against their own will, then they will create and experience that for themselves. So I believe, Yes, you can be possessed if you believe it, but the only person who is possessing you is YOU.
As far as the movie of Emily Rose goes... there are many instances where people were believed to be possessed. Because of this the Church subjected them to horrible treatment trying to "cure" them or this. However many of these people had sever mental problems and psychotic episodes. Emily Rose is based on the true history of Anneliese Michel, who was a catholic woman from Germany. They believed she "was possessed by six or more demons and subsequently underwent an exorcism."
In this Wikipedia article, which you can read for yourself, it says:
"Anneliese experienced what is recognized by medical professionals as severe psychiatric disturbances from the age of 16 to her death, at age 23, as a direct or indirect result of an exorcism ritual. Both priests who performed the exorcism and Anneliese's parents were convicted of manslaughter. The Catholic Church, which had authorized the exorcism, reversed its position and declared Anneliese Michel a case of mental illness."
It states that her death may have been a result of the exocism ritual. So here are Anneliese's parents and Priest of the Catholic Church promoting fear and their belief that this experience was real. And for them it very much was real.
It really is the different of believing from Fear or Love. And Love is really all there IS.

Ah yes, "based on a true story." In films, this means that it somehow on some level has some elements of or is similar to something that actually happened to somebody. This doesn't mean that it is a scientific proof of the event or that it is even accurate on any large level. In this case, Emily Rose (a fictitious name) is based on the true story of Anneliese Michel, a young German Christian woman who died in 1976 after unsuccessful attempts to cure her from the alleged state of demonic possession with the means of psychotropic drugs. The court accepted the version according to which she was epileptic, refusing to accept the idea of supernatural involvement in this case. Two priests involved in the exorcism on her, as well as her parents, were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence and received sentences.
Demonic possession? Who knows. I haven't seen it and there are no credible cases out there (that I have ever heard of). Think of the media frenzy if there was an actual demon possession and a local reporter got wind of it.

u dont get possessed by the devil but by evil. only when evil creeps into your heart do yu turn bad. what is being possessed? to be controlled by something else. so being possessed by devil is to lose your own conscience and do bad. so be good. love forever because love is free...

I woke to a greenish light in my bedroom and I was terrified.?I did NOT want to look over.I felt their presence, I did .their were 3 small demons flying around my older brothers bed, I was six years old, I screamed but no sound came out of me.when one of them looked at me with the most evil eyes.I put my head down till the light went away and I felt they had left.
My brother turned out to be a drug dealing cheating stealing type person.
he told me once he was afraid to die as he would probably go to hell.
My mother could tell when she met evil people. and so can I.I believe that
99.99% of people or not totally evil.but many or influenced by evil.
Theirs two forces on this world, The spirit of god .and the prince of the power of the air.

It could happen. In the New Testament of the Bible, we could see that Jesus cast out devils in many people.

heard of shamanism, we don't believe in the devil but believe in bad ghost and spirits and being possessed by them.
