There definitely from inside the mother. I saw on Animal Planet that the young actually eat their way out of her.

Sharks are born in different ways depending on the species. Some are born from eggs, some from their mothers, and others are born from sack like pouches which are filled with eggs. Once again it all depends on the species of the shark.
