"Just leave that for now, If you ask about her you are difinetly asking about my whole family, All I have left now is my MOTHER and my kid."

This is after I asked him what happened to his wife (he is a widower). Is this a red flag? Or should I wait for the answer? I don't want to find out something freakish happened to her if I'm dating this guy. What would you do, wait for another time to discuss it or leave it alone until he feels comfortable talking about it? This is strange...why wouldn't he just tell me whether she was killed or died and how?

Maybe he is still a little sensitve and still mourning her if i were you i would just give him a little space on the topic until he was a little more comfy.

maybe he is still hurt by what happen to her and he feels talking about her just bring bad memories and sorrow back to life. if he is not willing to talk about u shouldn't be pushing it. if he show any sign of interest in u he will come to his senses and forget about her dead wife, but if he doesn't u might as well take off and leave him alone with his family. obviously the guy is not ready to love again, give him some times and continue to be his friend if he allows u to. good luck
