Approximately 176 babies are born every 60 seconds around the world. Some straight, some gay, some bi, and so on.

These newborn babies did not have a choice of sexual orientation, height, weight, parents, race, nationality or hair color for that matter.

All straight and gay people are born as such. No choice.

Did anyone on here who ISN'T gay decide that they were going to be straight or did it just happen? See - it's a daft question.

No one teaches you who to like, what to like or why you should like something - it all happens without thinking about it.

If I could take a tablet so that I was straight then I would, which would suggest that being gay isn't a choice - it's just an unfortunate fcuk-up with the genes.

Studies on monkeys have shown that the further down the sibling line a male is born (I'm the 4th child in my family), the greater the chance of him being homosexual. The genetic reason? If there is a limit to food and resources (as what happens when animals have more and more offspring) then it makes sense to have homosexual offspring as they don't add to the problem of overpopulation. Going back to the monkeys, the homosexual offspring have been observed helping out with their brother and sister's offspring - like an uncle - so they are a benefit.

On the plus side, we are more intelligent (on average), have better job and earn more (on average) and contribute more taxes yet are less of a drain on resources compared with straight couples and their kids. However, I want kids and would prefer to be a drain on society than live in one where you are 'tolerated' yet not made to feel a true part.

Now, where's that tablet? The one for turning me straight, not one to overdose on!

I think that it is just the way you were born. The same goes for being gay.
It's genetics, you are what you are born to be. There are some people that due to experimintation and the way your experiances shape and influence your life, turn straight, I would imagine.
This is a good spin on all the stupid "are you born gay" questions.
I hope that the gay community gets a good laugh at this, I know I did, and I'm one of the either or's! It kinda puts things into perspective huh!

I am masculine, good looking, intelligent, talented, successful, outgoing and I chose to be straight. Well, guess what? The choice did not work!!!!!!!!!! I fought being gay until I was 23 years old and slept with dozens of beautiful gals. Then I thought I could do the middle of the road thing and slept with men & women. Finally I gave in to what my true nature was.....gay. Now I no longer have to struggle with that issue & I am still a great guy with gay and straight friends.

I really don't think it is. I have many gay friends and all of them say it isn't a choice. I don't think you're born that way either. It's the environment that you grow up around which helps to trigger whether you're gay or straight.

If you had a choice though, why would you want to choose to be gay?? It doesn't really make sense...

Good question! Let me ask this: Is thinking about doing something the same as doing it? The answer is: Obviously not!
Too many people want to do whatever they think about, but then they don't want to take responsibility for their actions! A man can have thoughts about lying, stealing, infidelity, even child-molestation, etc. But, there is ALWAYS a choice to be made!
Many people who say that they can't control their behavior want to blame genetics, society, circumstances, etc. The real truth is that they aren't willing to learn or use self-discipline in their lives! It's not that they CAN"T, but that They WON"T control their behavior! Unless, of course, they actually have a mental or emotional problem...
So, the blame-game goes on, & the lawyers all get richer...

Well, as I see it, it's not really a choice. Even if a lesbian woman decides to be with a male just to make her family/friends happy, she is still a lesbian, she just covers it up... NO ONE wants to be gay, it's just something that happens, and how it happens is beyond me, but I know it's an incredible feeling. So, people who are gay/lesbian can choose to be with a man or woman, but just b/c they live their life with the opposite sex doesn't mean their not gay.

your choice on gay or straight is whether or not you are willing to make the choice to accept the one you are and be proud of who and what you are mothers pass a gene that decides if the child will be gay so your choice is to accept your out come or be unhappy with yourself and what you cant change

maximum scientific and scientific evidence factors to that it is not a call and it rather is a few thing you're born with, and you for my area and tens of millions of different gay human beings understand they did no longer make the alternative; does it actually matter huge style if human beings think of it rather is a call or no longer, you will continually understand you're spectacular and that they are incorrect; your opinion via fact which you're gay is obviously extra valid than their biased opinions.

Didn't you ask this question the other day? Well, I'm not gonna give a long answer cos you are gonna give the best answer to your gay lord, so what's the point? But to answer your "question", being straight is not a choice -- straight people were born straight, just as gay people were born gay.
