Lobbyists pay-off politicians to pas laws that benefit the people the lobbyists get their money from. They are far worse than crooks. Traitors would fit the bill better in my opinion.

It's legalized moral and ethical corruption promoted by incumbent politicians because they are beneficiaries of campaign donations from lobbyists and the groups represented by the lobbyists. The incumbents make superficial changes to the laws every several years under the banner of 'campaign reform.' For a few millions you can influence the government by lobbying to gain $billions.

Lobbyists are people that act on behalf of ethnic groups, political or religious pressure groups, companies etc. They influence governments by offering money to politicians or parties in return for the politician pushing legislation which will be beneficial to that group.

So you have oil lobbies pushing against environmental legislations, Christian lobbies pushing against gay marriage and abortion, Israeli lobbies pushing for condemnation of Palestinian terrorism, etc.

Lobbies are basically an attempt to subvert democratic processes with money, often against the beliefs and values of the majority of the people.

Lobbyists are pimps. They shepherd corporations (the johns) to the politicians (the whores). The johns hand over large stacks of cash to the whores in return for favors - in this case legislation that helps the particular corporation in question make mountains of cash. And it's all perfectly legal.

Lobbyists are people that harass, blackmail, extort, and bribe congressmen to get them to vote against the interests of US citizens.

The reason we allow them is so we can at least keep some track of them. If we outlawed them they would go underground and be much worse. At least thats what some people say.

They try to effect legislation. They are interest groups. They are usually legitimate organizations and I don't think they are crooks.
