about a little over a year ago i experienced an injury to myself. i had a 5-6 inch tear inside me along the wall and i had to get surgery in order to get it stitched up. so now there is a whole lot of scar tissue. i have been trying to concieve with my husband for about six months now, which i know isnt very long, but. i came across a comment from another member and i realized it never occured to me. but the could the scar tissue be the reason i am having problems getting pregnant. and i know i need to go see a doctor but i want some feedback from anyone who experienced something similar or who knows cause you know only science goes so far.........

I have scarring from endometriosis and it was hard for me to get pregnant. Scarring can lead to infertility. There really is nothing the doctors can do about it, unless you take something like fertility drugs or some other crazy measure, and if your body is producing the eggs and they are good, then they may not go that route. Depending on how much scar tissue there is will depend on how hard it is to become pregnant. Obviously the more there is, the harder it will be. I had alot, but still became pregnant. My doctor was ready to do a partial hysterectomy to take my ovaries and other things out. They were very shocked to find out the test was positive, as was I.

You did not specify vaginal wall or uterine wall so i'm taking a guess here.A normal uterine cavity and endometrial lining is necessary in order to conceive and maintain a pregnancy. Scar tissue within the uterine cavity can interfere with conception, or can increase the risk of a miscarriage. This is sometimes referred to as Ashermans Syndrome. This is very uncommon. The risks involved in a Asherman’s pregnancy vary, depending on how severe the Asherman’s was. If the Asherman’s was very mild, then after the adhesions are removed, pregnancy is statistically no riskier than for a woman who never had Asherman’s. Obviously this can vary in individual cases, but the statistics show no increased risk.

If the Asherman’s was moderate or severe, there is some increased risk in pregnancies.

In 2004 I had a tubal ligation reversal, they untied my tubes. MY chances of scar and ectopic pregnancy were high.
I had been pregnant 2 xs both ending in a loss. Finally after hitting 35 my Doctor agreed to start doing some tests.
What you can ask your gyn for is a HSG test, this is not the most comfortable test, but they inject contrast into your tubes and uterus to see if there is any blockage. This is much better then any normal sonogram can do.
But also before you do ask your doctor find out if this is covered with your medical insurance, otherwise it is expensive.
Best wishes on your outcome.

If the scars are on your vaginal wall and havent affected your fallopian tubes or uterus I dont see why you wouldnt be able to get pregnant...sometimes it just takes couples a little longer than others..sometimes a year or more..but if you are very concerned then I would definitely talk to your Dr. about it....Good Luck~

I wouldn't think an injury to the vaginal wall would affect your ability to conceive, as that happens inside the uterus. The vagina is just the entryway for the sperm. It's good you're going to talk to your doctor, though. Unless the injury went deeper than you thought and affected your cervix? Well, good luck with getting pregnant! I'll pray for it to happen for you!

I think you might want to go to a OBGYN and get it checked out. I wouldn't advise getting information about things like that in a place like this. The only way you are going to know if that's the reason you are not conceiving is by going to see a doctor...
Good luck and I hope everything works out for you and your husband
