Custom made jeans are the perfect pair of jeans. QVC's Personify Brand is wonderful! Land's End also has custom made jeans. I am plus size, long legged and short waisted. Off the rack jeans never worked with me. My first custom made pair hooked me - I put them on and they fit perfectly and I never had that happen before. The ordering process was not hard. A couple of measurements and then 4 weeks later a perfect pair of jeans!

Thrift stores, they are great for clothes especially jeans because they are already broke in and you can see how well they wash. Just be sure the jeans are not to old were they will rot away with in a couple of months. Or find some good consignment shops. Sometimes they are almost as good as thrift shops with prices. There are gold mines in some thrift shops and no one realizes it.

trying them on... if the fits you they are perfect! I mean not all the people have the same body, eventhough it seems clothing is made for just one type, the skinniest ones.... Try them on if you feel comfortable, they are OK.
You know, when I was a teenager I used to look for the ones that make me look like the girls on TV, sadly...it was no way I could find them... I got a beautiful body.. : ) just not skinny at all! You do not have to fit the jeans..they have to fit you..!

First find a store that has a wide selection of brands and sizes. Say you need a size and they should help you find a brand you might wanna stick to. They also might find you a size that is comfaratable.

several things you need to ask yourself:
-price range: $40 or below, go somewhere with bargains/big sales $40-$100, middle-high end department stores, $100 or more, you can get the designers known for great jeans (i.e. sevens, Paige premium, etc)
-wash: darker for more slimming/sophisticated/professional, lighter for more playful/relaxed. but that's just in general, go trhough several shades of washes to decide which one you like best
-style: decide which one best suits you, whether it's flare, boot cut, skinny, etc.
-versatility: if you're going to splurge on them, make sure they work with lots of items in your closet.
good luck!
