If you reallly intend to stay with the women of your dreams for the rest of your life, and raise your child together forever. Aside from all the many reasons that people will answer why marriage is that important. If it really means so much to her and she is your world then why not give her the one thing that means so much to her. After all to you it is only a legal document, but to her it means security, and so much more. Then give it to her, after all to you it is just a piece of paper, so whats wrong with giving her a piece of paper??

Commitment is important, as is having enough people to care for the financial and emotional needs of the children. Marriage used to be a way to guarantee the commitment of the father, but I do not think that is any longer true. Some women find themselves supporting not only their children but also their father. Marriage is not a magic spell that turns them into responsible people. While many men are good husbands or fathers, there are some who can be a negative factor in the lives of their children -- those who are on drugs, are alcoholic, have criminal tendencies, etc. In those cases the mother and children would be better off alone, hopefully getting help from extended family.

Why not marry? Why not make that commitment? Fear? If your love is strong and long-lasting, what are you afraid of?
The social stability of the cohabitating couple is less than those of married people, despite the divorce rate.
Marriage and family form the core of our social structure. Why buck that structure?

What matters is if marriage is important to her. Is it important to both of you? Marriage isn't important to me anymore because I've been divorced. So it really just depends on the person. There's a lot of people who've been divorced and marriage is still important to them. Its an individual thing.

Marriage is not important. Just look at the divorce rate! Just because you are married doesn't mean you can't walk away!
You have nothing to prove to anyone else. Just love each other. If it works..... Don't fix it!

You can also consider getting married in the church only and NOT getting a marriage license from the state. You would then be married in God's eyes.

No, you don't need to if it's not important to the both of you. It does give you some legal protections that are nice to have. It's a personal choice, however.
