I have plugged my IPOD in the computer. I know the computer is registering the USB drive because it makes that noise. And yet my IPOD is not being recognized by ITUNES. Itunes worked with my IPOD Nano in the past. Now it will not work. I decided this morning to uninstall and reinstall ITUNES.. no luck with that. What are my other options?

This is a common problem. There are many different reasons to this. The most common reasons are below:

1) Program blockage: This is the most common problem among iPod users. There is any program installed on your PC which blocks the iTunes from recognising the iPod. Hence, you should remove any program installed after you installed iTunes and then try connecting your iPod.

2)USB Connectivity problem: The USB cable of yopur iPod may have been damaged by regular plugging and un-plugging from the PC. Some circuit boards may have been damaged. Try buying a new one.

3)Virus Blockage: A severe problem. There may be a virus in any song that you have in your PC or in your iPod. The best solution is to scan all the songs for viruses. If found, delete the song from your PC and your iPod. If not, format your iPod and put in all the songs.

4) USB port damage: As you have stated that your PC makes the noise, I dont think there can be any damage to your USB port.

5)iTunes recognising problem: The last but not the least. The iTunes software may have some or the other problem with a song loaded in your ipod.(check problem 3 for details). Now that you have tried installing it again there may be no problem with the iTunes software

Additional tips: Dont be too sure that none of these problems exist. Precaution is better than cure.

Never ever stop the scan for viruses in the middle of the scan data can go corrupt!

Try going to itunes.com and then connect your iPod

If nothing else works, your iTunes may have gone corrupt or there is a stealth virus. If the problenm persists
DELETE ALL SONGS FROM PC AND IPOD AND TRY PUTTING THEM AGAIN IN THE PC AND IPOD.
