If neither of them have filed a legal separation then it is possible to use each others bank accounts and social security numbers. If one or the other changes their bank account and this person is the only one listed on it then it would be illegal to try to use their account.

You can do anything you want if you have the pin numbers and are on the accounts. In my experience I changed bank accounts and notified every credit card of the separation , to either take my name off the account-. This can end up hurting you in the long run because if you are still together on these accounts then you both are responsible for the debts no matter who runs them up, and for the bank if he takes or she takes all the money you can't do anything about it. Its best to go to the court and get a legal separation as of the date that you separated so any new debts you are not responsible for. Most important get that band account closed and open one in your name only.

I would say it's legal unless a court has intervened. I don't think you are allowed to use the others Social Security number for obtaining credit or such but for all general purposes such as insurance, health insurance, and such I would say yes. Once anykind of legal issues come into play such as "legal separation", divorce proceedings, etc then you would be violating laws I'm sure.
Not an attorney, just an opinion.

You can't be serious! I mean if you are apart I'm assuming that you are separated by choice, why would you want her or him to have this information? The best thing you can do to protect yourself and prevent temptation, is to get a power of attorney that specifically lists what the person is allotted to spend, what they can use it for specifically and monitor everything. That way it keeps everyone involved honest.

i dont know if you are legally separated or not or living apart temporarily, but i would never use anyones info without their consent. my suggestion would be if this is permanant, then you should close all joint accounts and keep your personal info separate.
