If you're running Windows I can help you. You need at least Windows 2000 to upgrade your drives to what is (dynamic) status. If you can do that great, because certain external drives drives you cannot perform this on according to Microsoft. Also If you can do this, make sure that you've backed up everything or that you don't plan to have an OS on it, because converting to dynamic is fine, but creating the necessary dynamic volumes or converting back to (basic) disks, you'll probably lose data.

To try this out:
Start Menu -> Control Panel ->System Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage ->
Disk Management.

In Disk Management you should have a list of all the drives and their drive number on the left column. If its the right type of drive as I suggested, you should be able to right click this area to upgrade your status to Dynamic. Once successful, you can create what are called (Volumes). Combining two drives together is called a (Spanned Volume) and this is done by right clicking the (unallocated space area) to start the wizard.

Everything else should be straight forward, best of luck :D
