I think the rangers will be competive this year. There are a couple of things that could lead them to AL West pennant, and maybe all the way to the World Series.
1) If Sammy Sosa can return to play like he did for the Cubs when he was playing well, it will be hard for pitchers to pitch around Mark Texiera. Even if Sosa hits .275 with 23 HR and 85 RBI that will work.
2) If Brandon McCarthy is the real deal, and Padilla can pitch like he did last year, the Rangers will have their best pitching staff in years.
3) If Frank Fransisco returns to form, the bullpen will be amazing from the 7th inning on.
4) If Ron Washington gets these guys to play well and believe in him, the Rangers will win a lot of games.

No. they'd must be extra appropriate than the Yankees, the pink Sox, the Blue Jays, the White Sox, the Indians, the A's and the Angels first. Too many reliable communities interior the AL for the Rangers to compete.

I live in Arlington and am a devout Rangers fan...I'd say I'm cautiously optomistic. Everyone knows that the infield is lights out, but I have very little confidence in the outfield (it's pretty crappy if you want me to be blunt), and while they did make some small moves to sure up the pitching staff, it's still far from being what I would call good. Realistically, I'd say they have a chance at the Wild Card....but that's it.

They're definately a better team then last year. They have better starting pitching, with Milwood, Padilla, and Tejada in the staring rotation. Plus the addition of Eric Gagne, stregnthens the bullpen. their batting is strong just like last year.

But in order to make a playoff berth, they have to get through the Athletis, and Angels. That is hard to do. I'd say 2nd place, beating the Angels by 2 games. But they won't win the Wild Card. Therefore they won't make the playoffs.

Rangers can always put a good team on the field. However, with the Texas heat in the summertime, by July their pitching staff is burned out in more ways than one.

Losing Little Sarge(Gary Matthews Jr) hurts, but I think he played over his head last year.

The Rangers are a young, potentially good team. They need a bullpen and yes, i like their chances. Maybe not the division but definitly the wild card.

As for the Nl we all know the Phillies are gonna win!

Slim chances for the Rangers, cause the A's and Angels are gonna be very good.

Not me that's for sure. The 2007 world series champions will be the New york Mets.

They have just as good as chance of anybody in that division to win it. They just need to get off to a good start for once.

Not me. They need some serious help if they even want to pursue a wild card.
