WOW...what an interesting array of answers? REO Speedwagon started off in 1968 and a very hard rocking midwestern bar group that signed with Epic records in 1971 and after nearly 40 years in the business , 30 + albums and nearly 45 million records sold indeed ARE still touring. I have seen them 17 times over the years just recently with 16,000 other people and they are every bit as great as they were in the 70's! I will admit...I prefer their older stuff as well.....but the more "pop" sound of the time changed the way many rock bands of the time wrote and recorded music.

In the most recent years, they have been touring with the likes of Journey, Foreigner, Kansas, and for the past 4-5 years they double hedlined with Styx. REO is scheduled to release a brand new " enhanced "CD ...sold exclusively thru "WallyWorld". The cd is scheduled to release on April 3, 2007.

Many of the 70 and 80's groups are still touring....enjoy!

"Good" is a completely objective term. REO floundered around Champaign, IL and the midwest for quite a while before hitting it big with the double live album, "You Get What You Play For" led by the hit "Ridin' the Storm Out" ("Last Song, People!!!") I admit I listened to it quite a bit in the late 70's and even bought their studio follow up, "You Can Tune a Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish."

In my opinion, things went downhill after that. Sure, they still would score a hit or two with each successive album, but this was formulaic rock ala Journey, Stix, Foreigner. Lead singer Kevin Cronin's over-enunciation and increasing sappiness moved the band away from their rock roots and toward Light Radio hell.

They're a pretty lame "rock" band- always have been. They're really more of a run of the mill pop rock band- once they had a hit they just kept doin the same old crap- they are still around and playin the same ols crap

They were big in the 80's. They had some big radio hits which boosted their album sales a bunch. It all depends on your taste.
