Why do people ask very personal questions on here that they wouldn't ask someone in private?

Some because they can do it anonymously and some are fakes.

Because, when you're asking these personal questions face-to-face with your best friend, you get embarrassed and it's awkward. When you're asking complete strangers, it is easier/ you can't see these people, only what they say, and those people can be more objective and lass biased then a best friend. I think it is much easier asking a complete stranger on a computer a question then one of my best friends. Not because I don't trust them, but because I can get a better answer on here! There are some very smart people on here that are really nice!

This is an anonymous forum. They won't ever have to see any of these people. Asking a friend, in person, just might be too embarrassing for them

Because the internet is pretty much anonymous and it's less embarrassing to ask the question of anonymous strangers than it is to ask a friend

Because this is a "safe zone."

Tell someone on here that dark secret, and they may react badly, but you can walk away. It won't impact your real life. Your family and friends won't know. It won't have repurcussions.

It's like telling something to a shrink, except instead of a trained professional, it's random strangers.

Because they feel more comfortable asking on here than face to face with someone else; besides we don't know who they are, and they don't know who we are.
