the sound is functioning, no input on the mic/ couldnt record.

No details! What application are you tryin to use?

double click on the speaker icon by the clock then click on options put a tick by Advance controls then click options again now click properties scroll down to microphone and put a tick in the box now you can see the microphone slide make sure there isn't a tick in the box that say mute that should do it
