this guy who lives in my dorm building got extremely wasted one night (he's18). he got really violent and threatend/tried to kill the girl who lives across the hallway cause he hates her, but she ran into her room and locked the door. he went into the lounge and trashed the place, throwing couches around and stuff. she called cava, the schools medical service for drunk people but he resisted them so they left and called the police. he resisted the police to so they beat him down and cuffed him. he was cursing like crazy, spitted on their faces, and taunted the female cop as she punched him in the face "keep punching me *****, i'll get you fired." finally they subdued him after beating the crap out of him. he's in school now but his court hearing is next week. what do u think will be the verdict?

First, he is not a minor. At age 18, he may not be of legal age to drink, but he is an adult and is facing adult charges. What usually happens in a case like this is he will be charged with a felony, and his attorney should be able to get a reduced charge to a misdemeanor in return for a guilty plea. The judge may order him to get some treatment for his alcohol problem. Someone like him should not drink, ever. If you are around and you see him drinking, it would be advisable to leave. If he continues to drink he will harm himself or somebody else, guaranteed.

Doesn't the college handbook contain rules of order and what happens about infractions?

Since the college doesn't have sufficient common sense to suspend him for damaging their property and communicating a threat, the court system will have to do it for them.

The outcome will depend on who is prosecuting him: the public via the district attorney, the other students, the college or all 3.

Alcohol could have been what helped the problem, but without the alcohol this guy sounds like a danger to himself and to others. Where are his parents?

Underage drinking will be one of the lesser of his pffenses. He will could be charged with a variety of offenses, ranging from drunk and disorderly to assault. Resisting arrest will not go well for him either. The school will also hold a disciplinary hearing and he should be expelled, or at least suspended for his behaviour. He will most likely be allowed to plead to several misdimeanor counts and serve a short jail sentence witha hefty fine. He will also lose any driving priviledges for a while and have to pay restitution for any damages he caused.

He'd better have a good lawyer. Forget about the alcohol, his biggest concerns are the threats and the resisting arrest. He's looking at some jail time, I would imagine.
