ok, if u have read old posts of mine,my bf hit me, so i broke up with him, well my parents have araanged me 2 b married 2 a man i cannot stand and he and my brother are very good friends, i cannot stand him and he is like 25 or 26 rite now and i am only 16 and marry him a few days after my 18th b-day, well i thold my family that i wasnt going to marry him, but i am going 2 america just to see what it is like there ((im in the UK)) so my brother started screeming then after a while he calmed down, then he asked 2 speak 2 me, so he started yelling again and he slapped me becuase i woldnt change my mind, should i marry him, or go 2 america?

I really do not believe in arranged marriages. But that is just me. I know there are religious beliefs and other traditions out there. But I do not see what makes it right. If you come here.. it will be a hard adjustment.. but maybe you could come to school in the states.. meet some really nice people and live your life. But this may make it difficult on your family. I think people should marry for love and not for convenience for the family. I hope things work out for you and that you can accept any decisions you make. Good luck.

It's ultimately your decision, but I think you should come to America. Arranged marriage is not very common here, so you don't have to worry about that. You will have the freedom to find your own husband someday when you're ready to. It would be hard to leave your family, but maybe you could be with your cousin! If you are strong, you'll be able to make it alright. Good Luck, no matter which way you choose!

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. I'm glad to hear that you got out of that abusive relationship but I'm scared that you might be forced to enter another one. I know that your family is important to you but are you willing to give up your happiness? Your chance at finding true love? I don't think you should marry the guy but I hope you do what makes you happy. If coming to America makes you happy then go right ahead. I wish you the best.

Go anywhere but get away from people that do not respect you. Family or not, no one has the right to hurt you physically, emotionally, or psychologically. No one has the right to force you into a marriage that you do not want to be in, especially in this day and age. If your family shuns you, it's their loss. You can't do anything about the family you're born into but you can certainly create your own family by surrounding yourself with people that love, respect, and support you.

Definitly go to america! Don't marry someone who hits you and abuses you. If your family shuns you because you don't want to get hurt and marry a guy who is totally crazy! Then your family obvisouly dosn't understand you and they want you to get hurt! I was in an abusive relationship for 4 years but I loved him! You dont even love him! I would go to america and if you dont then you are a stupid girl for putting up with that sh*t you dont deserve that no one does!

I live in America and I believe that you should choose your own mate...if you feel as though you can make it on your own without seeing your family again then I say come to America..follow your heart it will never steer you wrong

Go to America. Your parents aren't raising you in Islam correctly. You can't be forced into a marriage that you don't want to be in. They're comitting a big sin.
