Have you ever looked into someones eyes, and thought you could see right through to their soul?

also, have you ever looked into someones eyes, and no matter how hard you looked, you felt like you couldn't, like they had a glass wall around their soul, keeping you out?

just wondering?
If you can't see into someones soul through their eyes does that mean their soul is so superficial it's hard to see? or does it just mean that they are not your soul mate,.,,,

As I sip my cup of coffee, I wonder too. The human psyche is mystery, notwithstanding the advances science made. I once looked into someone's eyes. The face was smiling but what I saw and felt was such sadness I could not bear to look for long. For it engulfed me with sadness too, shaking me to the core...I am a patsy... I know.

It's why I am a terrible poker player. I am so transparent, people could see through my eyes and body language I might as well show them my card. Needless to say, I get beat all the time. So I play chess instead.

Would you let me look through your eyes to see and share the wonders within? I wonder...

Usually the eyes are the window to the soul as they say!

At times some people turn their eyes away because they feel uncomfortable for a search into their soul, they raise a shield to prevent others from looking deep down, other times you can really tell on the look that you get and I truly believe that it is the time to avoid further soul searching because what you are looking for is now at the surface, and I rather not get to know that person. From time to time you meet someone with a kind look an you can imagine that the light and warmth of their souls really shines trough the windows to the soul!

The Word of God says that the eyes are a window unto the soul.
Whenever I hear of someone saying "their eyes were empty" or
"their eyes were evil", they're usually referring to human predators, such as murderers and rapist. I would be very wary of someone if I could not detect likeable qualities in their eyes.
And if a person is your soul mate they will line up to what you want in life and vice versa. There will be no strife, no contention and they will love you as they love themselves.
There is no such thing as a superficial soul. All souls have the same worth because they all come from the same source which is God, however some souls will chose to go to Heaven while others will chose Hell.
Pray to God that He gives you a discerning spirit so that you will be able to see into someones eyes and not be fooled by what they want you to see.

I don't think you can see someone's soul at all, except under extreme circumstances. It also depends on what you mean by 'soul' too. Do you mean just their physical soul? Or do you mean the soul that shows who they are? A physical soul is more like ghosts. But I think you mean the soul that reveals a person's identity. When you look into someone's eyes you may be able to see what they feel, but I don't think you can see who they are. That's why trust is vital, you have to commit yourself to trust someone because you believe you can. That's why its hard to have many true friends, because they are the only ones you fully trust. The only time you can tell who someone is, is in a life and death situation. You will know who someone's true self is based on their actions. You can never really know someone, but sometimes you can just tell who they are.

No, I'm having my strong cup of coffee now, and it's a good question to lubricate my brain.

I believe the answer subjective because if we see recognition of ourselves reflected back we see our completed desires fulfilled.
This affects the way we react. But what if our soulmate has weird hard eyes or is blind? Or has a wart on their nose? Would we still have the same feeling? Or is the outcome affected by the subjective feeling?

Have you seen the movie, "Made In Heaven" with Timothy Hutton and Kelly McGillis? There is 'that look' of recognition at the very end that's worth the rental. Trust me!

lol, it's not too deep at all, it is a great question or rather questions. I think you can tell alot by someone's eyes, not too sure about the soul thing anymore, and I know that feeling of the "glass wall" all too well, that is being shut out by someone, and I have experienced that one too many times in my life so far. Hmmm, I think the soul expresses itself in more then just someone's eyes, but I know what you mean by that, all I can say is if it doesn't feel right then it must not be your soulmate. You would feel it for sure! :)

It could mean they have no soul. it could mean they have been deeply hurt and guard their soul. it could mean they have learned to keep others out.

also, if you think you are seeing a soul, how do you know that what you are perceiving is genuine?

The only time I think I really saw a person's soul was with a really bad man...he had the coldest, cruelest, most intense eyes...

No, but I have looked into someones eyes and thought there was nothing at all. The persons was so horrible, their soul was even ashamed to look back at me,or maybe they didn't have one.

Its usually obvious if someone is a soul less person by words actions and how they represent themselves.The question you ask will answer itself in time by trial and error.
