It depends on what you wish for. If you wish you could fly like superman, forget it. If you wish to have a nice house, a good career, etc, you can get that by studying hard in school, get good grades, get a good education, and working hard at a job that will allow you to earn enough to get that house, career, or whatever it is you want.
Most people would rather just wish for it, though. The hard work part is not for them. Then they claim that the ones who do work for it are just lucky, is all.

Creative Visualization is a great way to make wishes come true.
Keep in mind that if your dream involves another person it may not be what is best for you in the end and even if you bend the other person to your will, you may be miserable with them anyway.
If you want to shape your destiny, creative visualization is the way to do it.
Creative thinking is true magic. You can create your future, you can improve your present.

Wishes are merely just that. Wishes. Hopes. Desires. No one can do magic (no such thing as actual wand-waving and spell-casting, trust me on this one) and make something work.

Praying and meaning it! (Unless you are wishing for the ridiculously impossible... like a winged unicorn to swoop down and fly you away!) Other than that, prayers do work!
