The problem with society in general today is that everyone has been trained to focus on differences between people instead of what we have in common. Why get hung up on skin color when it doesn't matter? Anyone could have been born any color, it is kind of the luck of the draw. There is no evidence that any one race is different in anyway than any other.
The people that you are speaking about at your school who don't like anyone or anything white (even winter) are just as racists as people who are in the KKK. They are judging people based on their skin color, not the people that they really are. And anyone who says that they cannot be racists if they are a minority is just trying to justify their bad behavior to you. The truth is anyone can be racist, homophobes, or sexist. The street of discrimination goes both ways.
It is time for the human family to try and come together based on our common interests and goals. If we do not, we will end up destroying each other. I only hope that people will try and take everyone as individuals and try to see the good in all people.

I agreed with you 100%. I think people will say mean, cruel, derogatory comments and racial slurs more on a computer than in real life. They feel more powerful and braver behind a computer. I hope some of the racist are teenagers. I can say they don't know no better. Yeah. Most white people think racism isn't a big deal anymore because they are not dealing with it. Most of the time on YA it is a white person saying derogatory comments and racial slurs against black people. I don't know if they have low self-esteem or come from broken homes so they join a white supremacist or just hate people of different cultures. They do this to make themselves feel better by putting other down. It's sad. I am glad to know there are good people like you on YA.

that's very astute of you! I'm glad you've noticed that racism IS alive and thriving in America. Do not be one yourself........it sounds as though you are not. There will always be people who NEED to feel as though they are better than other people. These people will, usually, be racists. Different states DO have more than CA does, when it comes to racism. I live in CA, and there is a lot of that around, but, I noticed when I went on a business trip to Tenn., and a man was asking each person which church they would like to attend because he would set up a ride for them/ Then, he told me , quickly, to BE QUIET! I said any mass will do, and he came unglued! He told me that I was in the city that is the main headquarters of the KKK. Surprised me, I had never even thought about how many people are against certain religions! I did not get a ride to mass, and will always remember, that I don't want to live in Tenn. I have one step brother who is racist, and it bothers me SO much when he and his wife visit me. I used to tell my sons, that this half brother had some strange ideas about things, but, they must just ignore his talking, as it wasn't the way our family thinks of things or people. Stand your ground, and don't laugh at racist jokes, or even pretend to understand why these people have a need to feel better than others. Although, people would say I am white, I always say I am humanoid!

The tides have indeed turned. In fact you will find that most white people are far from being racist, but now the black and Hispanic communities have become extremely prejudicial. Not that I am condoning racism, but the "new racists" do not even have sensible reasoning behind their assertions. This new discrimination is based off of laziness. The older reasons for racism were made upon the foundation of anatomical evidence, the new belief are spawned from laziness. "Because a black person loses his job, I is the white mans fault." This saves him from taking responsibility for HIS actions. Personally, I think that this is the worst type of racism.

Yes I agree with you completley..We are all children of God..and I think it is a shame that we still deal with racisim in the day and age every single day..People automatically judge you are you ethnicity or if you have "good looks," and a lot of the time it will determine on whether you get the job or not...I mean you really can't say white and black because we all came from different parts of the world..Just hold your head up and don't act like them, be nice to them and they may leave you alone..Hopefully when they get older they will realize that it isn't about the color of the skin but what's inside and only God can judge them..Every one of us is different and have different backgrounds, that's what makes the world go round'..!
Hope I helped :)

I completely agree with you. It's nice to hear someone ranting against racism for a change. There is nothing I hate more in the world than racism. It bugs me so much when people make racist jokes, or insult someone for the way they look. You're right, most people think that racism is a thing of the past, we still sometimes segregate ourselves.

Don't worry about these people. They are very close minded and ignorant. They don't understand. It's good to see people like you.
I'm a mixed (French+Nigerian) teen and some people I know call me "white" as an insult (I go to school with black kids but I'm caucasian and black). I used to take offense, because they were making fun of part of my nationality. I learned to let it pass because it is them who are acting stupid. Some people criticize me when I say someone 'white' is cute, but I'm like, "Screw them, I'm me and I'll always be me."
They can't act like it is bad to be white, because it's not. It's not like you went and said "I want to be white, because white people are better." but you didn't. Some people are stereotypical, and they think like that. But it's good that you don't.

Bless your heart, having to go through this....
There are so many racists and that is very sad, we are all human. Racists are raised by ignorant parents but when they become of age and learn different, they should turn their thoughts to humanity instead of the color of skin......
I do, in fact, know that if a racists house was on fire, they would welcome a fireman of another color....

People look to belong to a group, and the sad fact is, that in order for there to be exclusive groups, someone has to be outcast, and set aside as undesirable. I hate the fact that people and zombies seem to think this way -- "MUST... BELONG... TO... A... CLIQUE... OR... CLUB!" The dark side of human nature.
