... that you look younger than what you really are?
Did they tell you that when you were a kid? Do you like it or not?

I'm 18 and people are in shock when I tell them my age. Usually people guess I am 14, 15, 16, and sometimes even 13!
I hate it.

I'm always being told that I look younger than I am. I'm 24, and I still get asked for ID, some people have even commented that I look about 16! I guess that in years to come I will appreciate it, but right now it's kind of a pain.

Got taken for 26 a few months ago which was ace as I'm 34. At the fair that comes to Newcastle in the summer there's a guy there who guesses your age; he got mine spot on, which was ok; it would have been nice to be thought of as younger, but at least he didn't say i was older than i am.

Believe me, in a few years you'll be delighted if someone thinks you are five years younger than you actually are. I felt the same when i was 18 as you do as I was always young looking for my age, but now I think differently!

Doesn't bother me, but at your age, probably would of. But thing is when I was your age people thought I was older, and now that I am older people tend to think I am younger? I have a friend who is older than me, and she for some reason people think is younger, but I think it has a lot to do with what she wears, and that she is really small and short, (pettie). So, I think that is why they tend to think she is younger. Don't worry about it so much, you will like it when you are older, and they still think you are 18!!

Yes i remember when i was 22 and i was told i was not old enough to buy a lottery ticket. He sold me it when i said in a shocked voice "but I'm 22"
Now I'm 28 and people at work are always surprised they think I'm about 21or 22. It will be OK when I'm 60 but by then people will most likely think I'm 80. Sods law.

I was the same way when I was 18 -- someone refused to sell me scratch off lottery tickets even when I showed them my ID they thought it was fake. It was really frustrating at that age but now I am 32 and I look like I am in my early 20's and I love it.

All the time - I used to be taller than everyone when I was young so people thought I was older, then I guess I stopped for a while because now nobody believes I'm as old as I am - and no, I'm not telling (you wouldn't believe me anyway!)

I'm 28 and got ID'd for Ciggarettes a few months ago! Unbelievable, but I guess it's a compliment now, it wasn't when I was 18 and couldn't get served in a pub though!

Many times, and i don't mind it. I'm 25 and I have a younger sister who's 20. She looks older than me cos she's a bit tall and all while i'm small and skinny, so people who don't know us well always mistaken me being the younger one.

Hi Elf,

People often think I'm one of the students, and they make a pass
or a saucy remark, later they find that I'm giving the lecture.

That is usually when I am standing in for another lecturer, so they haven't seen me before. Great fun!
