My 9 month old has always been hard to get to sleep...at around 6 months...for some reason i ended up lying down with her and she babbled and then went to sleep no problem...so I continued to do that. Anyways...now that she has learned to sit up from lying down...she won't lie in bed anymore...as she would just lie there till she fell asleep...so i started putting her in the crib...first few days went great...but the last 2 days...she screams till she goes to sleep...I hate to hear her like that...anyone with ideas to get her to sleep without the screaming??

i have a 9 month old too. when i was pregnant i read tons of books & magazines, anyways one of the articles, or books i forget, said that babies often cry to release built up energy so that they CAN sleep. unless shes turing purple, or stops breathing then you have nothing to worry about its completly normal :)
good luck i hope she atleast sleeps through the night, mines not... :(

My three year old still does this. So you are not doing anything wrong!! It will pass or get better with time. The only reason my three year old still does it is because I was still rocking her to sleep at two. So nip the problem in the bud while you still can. You can always try soft music it may help get her to relax and focus on something other than screaming. Sometimes giving them a blanket sprayed with your perfume helps because they have your sent with them and its something soft they can cuddle with. Good Luck and I hope it gets better soon for you!!

i never let my baby cry herself to sleep and neither should you. You need to get a pacifier only at bedtime u give it to her. soothe her, bath her, read to her, rock her all be4 bed and rub her down with lavendar lotion, its calms a baby. Nightlight is a good thing. Make sure it is quiet in her room, and maybe some soft soothing music to play. Make sure she is fed and changed. I have a nine month also and ive never had a problem with her. I do all of that, bring her to her room, lay her down, put binkey in mouth, say i love you and night, night and not a word out of her. I put her to bed at 8pm and she sleeps till 8am. Good luck it can be done

Get yourself some earplugs and let it pass, and it will! Sometimes they just need to cry till they sleep to relieve stress. If they find out that mom isn't going to pick them up, they will soon learn that screaming doesn't work and go to sleep.
