Yes, there is logic; freedom means freedom at both ends of ALL spectra of society and culture. Either you believe in freedom or you don't.

I'm sure you know someone that works less hard or less smart than you, and who makes the same money. Is that a reason to take some of their money away? Or a reason to take some of your money away to give to them?

War & poverty are a natural consequence of freedom.

Basic Hollywood hypocrisy. Same reason they flew in from Paris, London or wherever on their private jets and then go to the Oscars in their hybrid cars to show how "environmentally friendly" they are.

This might not be the popular answer, but: the Academy and their sponsors can spend THEIR money any way they want. They're not obligated to give it to anyone who asks for a handout.

(Ease your own guilt, though, and occasionally donate the cost of a $10 movie ticket to a worthwhile cause.)
