You may not start dialating til you start having close contractions. With my daughter, I was having contractions about 3 minutes apart before I started dialating. At that point, it went very quickly. She was borna couple hours later. Good luck!

Sorry to hear it, you might have another month to go. Or not, the body is a mysterious thing, and it'll dilate when you're ready. The fact that you are so soft is good, because you need that to dilate, and the baby's head pressure will increase dilation. I'd be willing to be when you go into labor it will be FAST...so be packed and ready to go!
Increased discharge is good as long as it's not tinted green or brown, and doesn't smell bad, that may indicate an infection. But most women do increase discharge before labor, it's a natural cleansing! And, not to be embarrassing, but semen actually can help you dilate, so if you're not too uncomfortable, a little lastminute sex (it will be four to eight weeks before you get to again!) might help with labor as well.
Good luck.

You poor girl I feel your pain. I am almost 38 weeks too and I am not dilating at all so they may not induce me. Both of my previous pregnancies they have had to use a drug called cervidil (don't know if that is the right spelling) and it does the trick of getting it there. Mine has never even been effaced unless with that medicine. But that does the trick and knocks me into labor and they were both natural. No C-Section Yeah Good Luck. What day r u due?

Dilation happenes when it happens but doesnt mean you are going into labor, I was dilated to 4 cm for 2 weeks before i actually went into labor. Your body is working at its on pace, when it is ready it will happen. Increased cervical discharge can be a sign, better ask you doctor if he thinks that means anything. Just relax and enjoy the time you have left to be pregnant. Try bubble baths and alot of walking, that might kick your body into labor sooner. Good luck and congrats!!

I think it could be soon... but I guess you kinda have a 50/50 chance. It could either be soon, or you could go right on your due date... it just all depends on your little one. I just found out yesterday that I'm 50% effaced and I'm only 34 weeks. But people have been telling me that it could be like that for 3 weeks... thats a while, but it's aslo a good thing. Just remember, you want that baby in there as long as possible to avoid any problems. Good luck and God bless!!!

I have had 3 babies and each one was so different. I am sure that the Dr. told you that the dilation process is the very last step in the entire process. It can happen so fast that you aren't prepared, or so slow that you want to crawl out of your skin.
It sounds like you should just wait it out...that's all you really can do at this point. GL and Happy Baby.

I didn't start dialating until 2 days before i went into labor. When's ur due date? I bet you will start really soon, don't worry, it's not a bad sign. Your body just isnt ready and that baby isnt ready just yet. My daughter was 6 days past her due date. I didn't start dialating until i was already 4 days past my due date. Dont worry about the discharge either, totally normal. Just keep going to your doctors appts and u'll b fine

Dilation can happen overnight. I would relax....you are not considered late for a few more weeks yet.
