automatic transmission. kia pride. starter does not disengage trying to start engine. it does disengage after turning off key. starter/solenoid ok. why?

It's either the starter bendix (that's the mechanism that kicks the starter out), or the ignitions switch (my guess).

if starter is ok then the starter may need to be shimmed as it is 2 tight to the ring gear
