Sounds like your blues have you wanting to move and make a rushed decision. I suggest to one wait for your emotions to subside, never make a decision when you know your so emotional, which you are right now. Anything is gonna look better and sound more reasonable because of the situatuin your in. Once your emotions have subsided conquer the problems you have at home before you decide to take on new ones overseas.
But to answer your question i have picked up and moved twice! I came back twice! because even though where i was was great (Jamaica and Dominican Republic) it didnt make my problems disappear. Now I am resolving issues from two years ago. Once they are resolved I will be going overseas, though. Good luck and No Worries.

hi, I moved to Thailand for 10 years and loved it. I was working as a scuba diver and had a place right on the beach which I could never afford in california. I won't say it wasn't great but it did have it's challenges. Also there many of the other westerners weren't always so nice, the ones who lived there full time and they saw me as an outsider since they came first. (Go figure, it's not their country either!) Also I have seen some wonderful tourist spots which when there are not tourists around are a bit scary. That was in The Cayman Islands. But, I LOVE living overseas and hope to go back. I would say go for it. You'll never know unless you try. Just don't burn all your bridges so you have something to come back to, even if it is for a few months every year. Good Luck! Leila PS If you can, I'd keep the house and rent it out while you are over seas if possible.

I moved to Mexico for 10 years in the '80s and I absolutely loved it. Loved the people, the culture, the food, the architecture, the geographical variety, you name it. We will retire down there, when the time comes. Best of luck to you.

if u havnt already, talk to someone who specializes in personal finance to get their idea. u can go to the bank and ask for financial help. and id keep ur 401k for now just cuz its for retirement and save it for then. and if i understood that right, about repossesing, i dont think they can do that to ur 401k. since ur losing ur job, try to find a new one with good benefits and try to start over. if it works it might start out rough but it'll get better.

That's exactly what we did! We moved here to Mazatlan after thinking about it for maybe a week. I think it's the best thing we have ever done!
