I always suggest alot of walking, thats what did it for me. I walked around at 4 cm dilated for 2 weeks, the only thing that helped was a long day of walking.Or another suggestion is go to your doctor and have him strip your membrains, that works good too. I know it hard right at the end but just relax and give it time....eventually you will have a beautiful baby in your arms.
CONGRATS!!

Remember that the due date is an estimate. It's just offered as a 'by the way, you should have a baby sometime around....here'. You could go two more weeks, so I wouldn't just expect it anytime, especially as you're not dilated very far.

It's not eating LOTS of food, actually if you're bowels are full that will slow labor down (and make it messy). It's what you eat, spicy or greasy foods are supposed to trigger labor because they cause the bowels to be irritated, and those contractions stimulate the uterus. It hasn't happened to me but other people swear by it.

Exercize helps, lots of walking, up and down steps. The gravity pulling on the baby puts pressure on your cervix, which is a vital part of starting dilation. If you're sitting down, that pressure is spread to the hip bones to support the weight and it doesn't help labor at all.

Dehydration can also slow down the onset and actual labor, you should be getting at least a gallon and a half a day by now of just water, add some lemon or cherries to make it taste better, but just choke it down. Soda (caffeine and salt) can also slow down onset of labor.

Good luck. I'd personally take this time to freeze some meals, get a hair cut, get my nails done. It'll be months before you sleep through the night again.

They say having sex is good to soften up the cervix, something that is the sperm helps. Also nipple stimulation can put you into labor as well. Walking is good. I took a friend on a bumpy ride in the car and the next day she went into labor.. but we were really young and stupid then. I would not suggest it.

Maybe this is getting too personal, but my doctor told me that unless youve lost your mucus plug the best way to speed it up is to have sex. Sperm softens the cervix. Ive heard from lots of friends that this works!! And if you are already dialated to 2 then it sounds like you are on your way..

There is nothing you can do.....You may go over up to 2 weeks. I was 2 cm dialated for 6 weeks it doesn't mean anything. The best thing to do is ask your doctor to strip your membranes, that should help....
Hang in there

Same thing happened to me with my second one. Not much you can do but wait it out, but sometimes you will dilate early. Make sure the doc knows about it. (You shouldn't eat any more than you did before pregnancy, or you'll get fat).

ahh...the dreaded last week of pregnancy. unfortunately unless baby is ready to make his/her appearance, nothing will work. have you talked to your doc? maybe he/she could do a membrane sweep. this usually gets things going within 48 hours! hang on there, its coming!=P
