everywhere i look online it's $40-$60?! for a 10 year old playstation game? even used? i'm guessing they stopped manufacturing it or something..?

FF7 is now what FF: Tactics was after its initial run of disks. A collectors item. Many consider it to be the best final fantasy game ever made (i still believe is 6). But you are right they did stop manufacturing the game, a while ago at that. I think it was one of the few games that got 2 regular prints and then a Greatest Hits printing. Once the greatest hits printing ran out there was still a pretty high demand for the game. Causing the price to go way up. Its pretty common with popular games actually.

I had the same problem after my friend accedentaly let his dog use it as a chew toy. after asking the manufacturers they said they have stoped making them. there are a rare amount of new games out there. Not to mention most people see this as an opportunity to make a few extra dollars, and the fact that it wasn't selling until the ff7 movie came out.
Besides that there are rumors that it will be remade but remember the rumors came through when they first anounced the movie.

Er.. $50 is the average retail price when it was first released.
Now... as for it being sold for a 'high' price for a 10 years old game and/or even used.
You should have seen the PC-Engine / TurboGraf-16 CD games, they might be old, they might be for an old game console, but they are still priced quite considerably.
It should be noted that Square-Enix regulary rereleased the Final Fantasy VII game under a special collection for a lower price.

Well, despite the fact that there are a lot of copies out there in the world, the game remains very popular, and people are willing to spend a lot more for the game than it's actually worth.
The Final Fantasy series has a huge fanbase worldwide, but in particular, Final Fantasy VII seems to have the most fans.

dude this is the best final fantasy game out there the reason why it is so expensive is because of this. this ff7 game will literaly bring the players to tears due to its sad *** ending yeah this is definetly the ultimate ff game
