I believe the tax on cigarettes, like petrol is in the 85% range. The basic price of a packet is about 85p, and the selling price averages 5 pounds and 20p for most major brands.

It is a little less for alcohol, and depends on the alcohol content, but still the tax averages about 70%.

God knows what they spend (waste) the revenue on.
