This is the best book for cleaning tips, Haley's Cleaning Hints ... using common things around the house. So many tidbits in there are spot on, old-fashioned remedies that truly work. These are the old fashioned and nearly forgotten tips that people like my grandmother used. There is really no need to spend tons of money on thirty different cleaning products when you can use simple things that work just as well or even better, things that you probably have already.

For example, you can whiten yellowed white candles by rubbing them lightly with a cloth and ammonia. You can buff them to a shine with an old pair of pantyhose.

To remove tree sap from garden tools, rub them with rubbing alcohol.

Clean golf balls in a solution of 1 gallon of water with 1 cup ammonia, soak the balls overnight. Clean golf club grips by scrubbing them with toothpaste, then wash with a bit of soap and water.

Haley's Cleaning Hints, available at most bookstores or online. I refer to it so often for stains, cleaning suggestions, clever hints.

Oil spots on clothing that won't come out? rub in some original Dawn for dishes on the spot, and you will have oilfree clothes! I keep a bottle by the washer all the time!
