Not really actually. Because the boy they have replaced him with, Stuart Clark, is to me even better player. Since Clark has started his career he has a better player and have also taken more wickets than McGrath and Lee. So, to me he has outclassed both of them. He was actually very unlucky to miss-out from the initial squad for World Cup, and Shaun Tait was choosen ahead of him only because the fiery-pace he possessed. Yes, Lee has been one of their front-line bowlers in recent times, but still I would say that they will not miss him as much as Andrew Symonds. Even Brad Hodge has played 2 great innings but he doesn´t come into the class of Symonds. But that´s not an excuse to make. If they think themselves to be real champions then they shouldn´t make such excuses and should try to win the World Cup without their 2-3 key players. Even other teams are missing some of theirs as well.

I do not feel that the absence of Brett Lee will damage the chances of Australia as Strut Clarke is an equally very good bowler

no doubt it will harm them a great deal.
The recent series with n.z proved that.
apart from mcgrath nobody has had enough experience at top level, infact no bowler apart from mcgrath has earlier played in a world cup.
so they lack experience in bowling department big time.
there will be hall a lot of pressure on mcgrath
imagine what happens if mcgrath gets hurt.

You talking about me? No, the Aussies are safe with Mcgrath and Ponting. But Australia will lose the final with India.

Not realy !!!

Clarke is also a good player and secondly McGrath would be there so Brett Lee's absence would not effect them much !

yes,it's a great loss as far as their prospects of winning are concerned.............but the old horse is not old yet...a Mcgrath on fire can make all the difference & even Nathan Bracken is good enough..!!
