You could base your picks on the hopes of Red Sox fans, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Mats is a No. 3 starter at best. He'll pitch in the AL, which means he won't have the luxury of pitching against weaker non-DH teams. His division is among the toughest in baseball with the Yankees and Blue Jays.
I'd go after proven SPs first, then if he's available for your No. 3 or better off 4 spot, maybe take a chance.
Remember another hot Asian import, Hideki Irabu? Same hype, little results.

I dont think u will draft him as high cause i had a draft last night and was drafted in the 7th round. During my draft there were much better pitchers left than matsuzaka and more tested. so i think u should draft him around in the 8th or 10th round then you make a move for him when he does good during the season when u didnt pick him

If you can you should first take Johan Santana but if he's gone by the time you pick then i'd go with Dice-K.
(By the way if you didn't know it Johan won the pitching triple crown last year which means hes probably your best bet)
He led the league in innings pitched - 233.2 , tied with Chien-Ming Wang from the yankees for wins - 19, had the lowest ERA of any starter other than the great Francisco Liriano - 2.77, he by far had the most strikeouts with 245 and only 47 walks, he also had the lowest WHIP - 1.00)

Daisuke will prove himself as one of the best pitchers in MLB by the middle of this season.
He is not a superman; he does not throw what you call a "gyro ball" (actually, it's a vertical slider). But he will win at least 10 games with below 3.0 ERA this year.
I am a big baseball fan in Japan, watching Matsuzaka for the past 9 years ever since he was in high school. I know what I am talking about.
In addition to D-Mat, please keep an eye on new Japanese pitchers in MLB this year: Okajima (Red Sox), Igawa (Yankees), and Kuwata (Pirates).

This guy is awesome. He threw 103 pitches from 220 ft away. He pitched great in the World Baseball Classic.
He will get at least 15 wins this year, so yes draft him.

i am a major sox fan and i dont like this guy. i dont think most people are takin into consideration that the only time he ever faced MLB hitters is the WBC and yea he did good but coul he really take that kinfd of pressure everyfive days. American league hitters are very dangerous.

He is unproven although there have been very good things said about him playing in Japan. But he hasn't pitched once against an MLB team and I think he is way overhyped. It's a gamble to draft him and I wouldn't.

i wouldn't draft him too early. hes never pitched against big league hitters yet. the hitters here are different then the ones in japan. i think if you draft him, do it later in the draft or just wait till next year and see how he does.

As a lifelong RS fan it is my belief that D Mat will win 14 to 18 games. Lots of strike outs because his stuff is unseen.
All Red Sox fans have HIGH HOPES

A lot of baseball people are speaking very highly of him. I wouldn't grab him too early - there are a lot of known commodities out there - but I'd definitely take a chance on him once my top pitchers are no longer on the board.
