I have recieved my ATM card. Do i need to wait for the pin no. to activate my card or should i call the phone number at the back of my card to get my pin no.?

You will receive your PIN number separately for security reasons. You can activate your card now, but you won't be able to do anything with it without the PIN, so you might as well wait until you get it.

They are separate.

When I opened my checking account, I set my own pin number so you may already have one. When I received the ATM card a week or so later, the pin was already in place as I chose my own number at the bank when I set up the account.

No, you will need to wait for the pin number, usually about 4 days later.

For security reasons, your pin number is sent to you separately from your card. Be patient, you'll get it in a few days. If you don't receive it in a week or so, then I'd call.

The pin # is sent seperately so someone else can't get both the card and the pin # by stealing your mail...

DEPENDING ON WHICH BANK YOUR AT. AT COMMERCE THEY MAKE YOU PRESS YOUR PIN IN WHEN YOU GET YOU CARD. PNC THEY SEND YOU YOUR PIN AND CARD AND THEN YOU CHANGE IT. SOMETIMES ITS THE LAST FOR OF YOU SS. BUT TRY CALLING ALL BANKS ARE DIFFERENT.
