When you have you baby do they drug test it and if they find anything do they arrest you?

Yes they can arrest you and take the baby away and place the child in foster care. I have seen this many times working at the hospital. The will wait til the mother is released from the hospital and she will be arrested on the spot and the baby is taken into custody of the state. So if you have done any drugs while pregnant.. it will show and there are consequences to pay. Sorry.

I imagine it depends on the state. Of course, if the doctors have reason to suspect anything due to the condition of the baby or the mother, I am sure they run tests. If the tests come up positive, then they are obligated by law to report it.

I have a problem with the possibility of someone being arrested or having their kids taken from them for going to the hospital. It is a shame that even honest, hard-working people have to watch what they say in a hospital. Such Orwellian tactics as using the hospital to entrap or catch people cause a lot of people to neglect medical care. In the case of a baby, what is to keep someone from delivering them at home and risk having the child die of complications?

It depends. I worked on Maternity for awhile and we had a baby girl drug tested right after she was born. They put a bag in her diaper to catch her first urine. She tested positive for drugs and they took her off the mother immediately. She went home to foster parents. I do not know if the mother was arrested or not. But she lost her kid anyway.

Yes they do take your child anyway. This happened to my cousin. They took both of her kids, but she did not go to jail. After she stayed clean and took a clean test for so many months she SADLY got the kids back. I don't know if you are taking drugs or if someone else is. But if it is you please think about it first. You are hurting an Innocent person. That child has no chance in the world and is completely dependent upon you. Don't do that to an Innocent and helpless child. Come on use your brain.

i know in ohio they do test the mother and the child if it is in your system and not in the childs they just usually send someone from the hospital in and talk to you now if it is in the baby's system you have some problems they did drug tests on me when i had my baby and didnt tell me but because there was only weed in my system and not the babys they really couldnt prove that i had a drug problem they do not have to tell you they are doing these kinds of tests

Well, if they did it's about time. You won't be leaving the hospital with your baby and chances are you wont get it back. I was just htinking about Anna Nicole's Smith's baby yesterday and how she's luck to be alive after the drugs her mother was taking. It's very sad when people do this to their children. You might not be face to face with your child when you do the drug but you are gonna face it one day.

They will test if the child shows any signs of having drugs in the system. If the baby does, he/she will be taken away from the mother.

If you test positive and the baby test positive, DCFS will take custody of the baby and you have to "earn" the baby back. Rehab, parenting classes, etc... I worked at a hospital in IN and we saw several crack babies, dope babies, everything (every week), and these momma's never went home with their babies. Some kept having kids, but they never again got custody of them because they refused to stop the drugs.

I dont know if they arrest you but they damn well should. Anyone who uses drugs when pregnant shows they can not be a fit parents so I think they should even take away the kids until the parent can straighten up. I hate jerks who do that..why do they even have kids if they just want to abuse them.
