I was Tivo-ing it and something happened and I think I missed how the other ghost, Jason died. Did they tell how he died and why he was haunting Brian for so long?

I did TiVo it so here you go......
Jason died of MS and when he was in the hospital dying he made a list with his friend Alysa. One of the things on the list was to kiss the homecoming queen Stephanie.
Bryan was taken over by Jason because they went to school together and after Jason died he watched over Bryan to see what he became of in life. Bryan was the captain of the football team and he dated Stephanie. Those two went to prom together so Jason knew he could get to Stephanie through Bryan. Bryan basically peaked in high school so when he went to college he pretty much bombed out and was kicked off the football team and quit after a month. His life went from bad to worse and he couldn't hold a job for more then 6 months. He was in a bar drinking trying to get some woman to be his date to the prom and she basically blew him off. He walked out of the bar and Jason was still shadowing him and saw Jason walk out into the street and get hit by a car. He didn't want to show up at prom because he didn't become anything worth going for. That was how Bryan died so Jason took over Bryan's body. Since Jason was in a wheelchair for years having this new body was a huge improvement to him. He had Bryan break into the dry cleaner to steal a suit and the drug store to get things to cover up the fact he was/looked dead.
