Of course, but drugs are not the only reason. The drug thing has to do with chemicals in the brain producing a temporary euphoric state. So whatever the chemicals are in the brain or the chemicals we consume, the whole thing is some kind of euphoria. Yes, it is euphoria or whatever term or phrase that explains it.

Sex produces a temporary euphoria and is a natural high, but has its obvious disadvantages.

Sex desire can be a very difficult thing for either gender to get complete control of. So sometimes there is exploitation between gender for money over this sex desire. The four legs of Dharma will help everyone world over to come to the level of Dharma. On the level of Dharma human beings achieve the selfcontrol necessary to stay free of sex outside of sacred marriage. When there is sufficient advancement in Dharma then yoga is realized. The ultimate goal of both Dharma and Yoga is Bhakti.

The four legs of Dharma are charity, truth, education, mercy, sacrifice and selfcontrol. The Dharma advances to the Varnasrama Dharma. This understanding is summarized in the ancient wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.

I think that a greater portion of prostitues are addicted to drugs. There are some women who do it b/c they are nymphomanicas, and are addiced to sex. Other women do it b/c they need the money to support themselves/and/or/family.
I had a friend who did it b/c she was a single mom with no education.
She was married right out of highschool, and had 4 kids when her husband died. She tried to get a "normal" job, but was either turned down or it wasn't enough money to pay the bills and support her family.
There are also allot of women that have been taken as in kidnapped and forced to work in the sex slave industry.

I don't know about the UK in particular, but I do know that drug addiction is one circumstance in which a woman may turn to prostitution. It is important to note that there is also the circumstance of poverty, lack of education (making it difficult to secure employment to survive on), trafficking of women, abusive relationships, and also low self esteem which is linked to many other issues. It is interesting to note that 90% of women in the sex trade industry have been sexually abused in some form. Incest is 'boot camp' for prostitution. Many of these women have come from abusive backgrounds which causes them to have little or no boundaries, no regard for their bodies, no value for themselves or the sacredness of sexual activity - since these things have been taken away from them. Even if a woman may 'choose' prostitution as a means to an end i.e. paying her way through school, one has to wonder why? Sometimes the drug addiction comes after entering the sex trade for reasons of escapism. A good website to go to if you would like to know more about the sex trade is www.prostitutionresearch.com. Hope this was helpful.

drugs is not the only reason the women from any country turn to prostitution. Some turn to it to make extra money for school, bills, attention. Many do turn to prostitution to help pay for drugs that they got addicted to

dont know about UK, or anywhere else, but i have been personal friends with several strippers and prostitutes, one stripper told me she had twin daughters, no job, no money, about to be evicted, thats when she made a choice-she could either take all her clothes off, and dance naked for strange men, OR she could take all her clothes off, and have sex with strange men. she said, its pretty amazing what you can and will get yourself to do, when you have kids to take care of.

Prostitution ... I think it is called marriage.

Marriage is simply legal prostitution.
