I know this question may sound alittle stupid but just want to know why some people just ask randomly if I'm mixed. yeah I see I'm light skin. But this one time I was washing my hands in the ladys bathroom and this Hispanic women was talking to me in her language then I look to her and she said your not spanish and I said no. That was a while ago. Then I was like in 7th grade These two girls said are you half black half white not at the same time but in the same year. Now that I'm in 8th grade this boy in my english class said sharon are you mixed I was like no then I said why he said b/c your light skin. Sorry for the long question. But thanks for the answers.

Well, first of all, you can educate the people who ask you this question. Obviously, some people are asking you if you are interracial. The term 'mixed', to me, just sounds kind of stupid.

Since you're very young, you need to understand that people will do and think all kinds of things. It has nothing to do with you - even though their questions are directed at you. You also need to understand that people will make all kinds of assumptions about things. In your case, some people look at you and, based on what they see, or think they see, will come to the conclusion that you're interracial. Just give them an answer you're comfortable with, which could be anything from a simple "no" to "why do you ask?", to explaining your ethnicity.

Try not to read too much into questions from people, otherwise, it will just drive you crazy.

The eight grader just said it, becuase of your skin color. With light shaded skin, people can't tell weather your, mexican, hispanic, black, or white or anything. I don't know what you are, but you have the appareance of different races. Thats maybe why the hispanic lady talked to you in spanish. She wasn't sure. I think mixed people are so gorgeous. Its okay!! :-)

It depends in their tone on their voice that you can tell if they are curious or condescending. Either way be polite and tell the truth. From what I gather once you give the answer that's the end of the conversation. That means it's not deep enough for you to wade into it so don't dwell on it. Be glad of who you are and your heritage, that makes you unique in all the world. Remember also your friends don't even think about race, but about your relationship with them. They are much better people to occupy your time with then just those you see or hear for less than one minute out of your whole life.

Well when I think about a person being mixed with anything I think exotic and beautiful. The fact is we are all mixed with somthing, no such thing as pure blood these days. I think dark skinned people are more beautiful than light. My opinion!

Don't worry about it. Most people are a mix of one kind or another. Concentrate on what's inside and on effecting the world around you in a positive way; you'll go far that way. Happiness begins on the inside, not from other people's perceptions.

Every coin has 2 faces... its just ur view of seeing it.this the most precise way of dealing with ur problem.. just be optimistic!!! aulthough the question seems to be too long but has a simple solution "ignorance" when u stop being serious about it .. it wont make any difference to u about the public opinion.

I wouldn't worry about it. We are all technically mixed, even if it's all white. I'm as white as can get and someone asked me if I was Spanish...from Spain. Er, no. It didn't bother me.

WHO CARES. I don't know what color you are and I'm not going to think about it....in this therapy session how about you being more agressive and proactive by telling me what you are.

Good day.
