Dominica is an island in the Caribbean Sea, located about halfway between Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago. Its coordinates are 15 25 N, 61 20 W.

It's in the Caribbean. Many Americans think they are buying a ticket to the Domenican Republic and end up in Dominica because Americans talk in half words and, since they don't know geography either, they ask for a ticket to the half word "Dominica" rathen that the full word "Domenican Republic"

This is an all too true problem... just ask any ticket agent.

It's the island between Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Greater Antilles (Windward Islands)(Caribbean).

No relation to the Dominican Republic, which is the eastern part of Hispaniola (the western part is Haiti).

It is very true, US Americans do speak in half words and are on average very ignorant about geography and the world around them in general.
